3/14/2016: Smoke and Fire Behavior presented by IFSI Instructor Tim Bragg

The class explained how fires grow and spread and how to recognize and anticipate what is happening in a burning building by observing the smoke and fire conditions. The firefighters learned about the relationships between fuel, oxygen, heat and the chemical chain reaction, physical properties, heat transfer from ignition through flashover and their associated hazards. Understanding the difference in color, thickness, speed of movement, and location of smoke within the structure are important in the safety of fighting fires and anticipating what may be about to happen.

CPR - January 5, 2015

Every year, our Fire Fighters renew their CPR cards. Special thanks to Steve Lynn for providing us with this valuable training experience. Pictured above is 2nd Captain Brian Wuebbles, Chief Brian Hubert, 1st Captain Ryan Wuebbles, and Instructor Steve Lynn.

Search and Rescu Training

It is important to be aware of your surroundings when performing interior searches during fires. One of the trainings we did was practice going through walls. If a fire fighter is stuck in a building or a room, fear can take over. Practice escaping and moving through walls is important.
